Philip Roth talks about people not completing novels within 2 weeks, and according to the blogs I read, the people I speak to, the stats I familiarise myself with, the reading culture is growing broader - it would be interesting to see who is taking speed reading courses so they can get more of their novels read faster. My guess is, it is women, and the courses are more popular than ever. No one, however, is rushing to get Martin Amis or Philip Roth under their belt.
